Fekkai Au Naturel: Hold Your Hair Still!

This ad was found in a fashion magazine and is for Fekkai Au Naturel hair products.

Fekkai 1The text reads:

Fekkai

(url and availability information)

I’m used to hair ads showing women with long, impossibly thick and almost glowing hair flowing like water around their heads.  As weird as those images are, in their way, it seems like that’s what this ad should have, based on the text.  This woman does not look like she has hair with “natural movement and body”, she looks like she has wet hair of average weight plastered in shape with something (hairspray or gel or both, I would guess).  It just doesn’t have any movement at all, even the movement it looks like it should have.  She’s pretty, so there’s nothing wrong with casting her, it just doesn’t seem like the stylist they had work on her knew what the ad was for.  I don’t think of hair care when I see her, I think of skin care.  She has absolutely perfect skin (I’m sure it’s Photoshopped, but still…).  This just doesn’t work for what they were trying to advertise.  It’s not a bad image, it just doesn’t match the product or text at all.
